Generations everywhere have enjoyed THE SOUND OF MUSIC, one of the most successful musicals ever made, which was filmed in the city of Salzburg and the idyllic province of the same name. Equally memorable, Orson Welles’ classic, THE THIRD MAN, has branded powerful images of Vienna on the minds of audiences, such as the magical Giant Ferris Wheel and the dark and chilling tunnels of the city’s sewer system.

Austria’s great variety of landscapes and its architecture, the abundant flora and fauna all offer an attractive variety of film locations – from snow-topped mountain peaks, to fairytale woods, crystal clear lakes and rivers, meadows and rolling hills. In the midst of these locations, we find historic palaces and castles, monumental cloisters, regal manor houses, and rustic farmhouses which have, time and again, served as film locations.
